( exasperated, in that lead-the-way-before-i-kick-you-or-threaten-to-go-somewhere-dangerous-alone-instead tone of voice he has. )

[ yeah! people are waiting here. she just glares up at gilbert. ]

[retraced]

What-?!

[Did you or did you not just see the cat that rolled by a second ago?! But he does recognize that tone, and the last thing he needs now is to be chasing Oz around. Knowing him, he'll run directly for the cat just to annoy his useless servant.

Gilbert clears his throat and gestures for them both to follow.]

We can stay in my room for now.

[velveteened]

( that is pretty much exactly what he was planning, so good job gil. )

Are all of the rooms safe?

( presumes so from being dropped off around here, but it's good to confirm. )

[bunnivore]

[ she doesn't say anything, following along and letting them talk about the important things. she can just listen. ]

[retraced]

Safer than anywhere else.

[He puts out his arm and gestures for them to stop while he checks around a corner, but seeing the hallway clear, nods an affirmation for them both to follow.]

( pauses and follows accordingly, digesting that. were anyone they know in a position to be worried about, he imagines gil would mention or insist on going back out there. and now that there's no active threat — )

Just what happened?

[bunnivore]

[ she perks up, trying to see if she'll get any information since she's seriously behind on all this. understanding that she is behind on so many things due to her late arrival is aggravating, but for now she can only do so much. what matters is that they're together now. like she had told gilbert, all they have to do is move forward. she can get any answers she wants out of them later. ]

[retraced]

They finally opened the agriculture wing.

[Oz probably remembers the work being done on it before he'd left.]

But after they'd opened it, they found...those things inside of it.

[velveteened]

— ah.

( that and a slight intake of breath perhaps to go on, except that he doesn't; scarcely five minutes of reuniting with alice and he remembers why he hates the moon so much, this space that sounds too much like abyss. )

[bunnivore]

[ his reaction causes her to glance in his direction, and she now opens her mouth to interrupt the conversation because she didn't like the atmosphere at all. ]

Oz. [ what do you even when there are zombies luring around. ] Are you okay?

[retraced]

[He glances back at Oz, just to look at his face and try to read that expression while waiting for his answer.]

( wrong time, wrong place, and he doesn't miss a beat — )

I'm fine, Alice. If you've just got here recently, does that mean you haven't seen the cafeteria yet?

( deflection time. )

[bunnivore]

[ a long stare. she's thought a lot about food today, but it wouldn't be at this moment. ]

If it's about food then it is Seaweeds's job to feed me. And I don't really get it but... the zombies have to go away! If anything, they're my prey and I'll get rid of them, so you should thank me.

[retraced]

[He frowns at Oz, but then scowls at Alice.]

Don't volunteer people for things that they haven't agreed to yet!

[Even though he already knows that he'll end up feeding her every day.]

[velveteened]

( he laughs at all that, unable to help himself. )

Thank you, Alice! They won't stand a chance against you.

( despite all evidence to the contrary )

[bunnivore]

That's better!

[ she smiles, although she does shoot gilbert a quick glare. ]

So now that that's settled, we can worry about things later.

[retraced]

[They've passed several doors on the way already, but Gilbert clearly knows which one he's headed towards.]

We're almost there.

[velveteened]

( it's impossible not to smile in response to hers, honestly, soak up that light. )

Exactly, exactly!

( oz follows easily; he'd been a bit distracted at first, but this room is one he knows the way to just as well as his own. )

[bunnivore]

[ with a satisfied nod she looks ahead to see which door gilbert will lead them into. she probably won't remember later... but she can try. ]

[retraced]

[Remember it, rabbit! He's not showing it to you again! A few doors away, he ushers Alice and Oz past him so that he can walk behind them, just in case anyone does decide to sneak up behind them. But Oz should recognize the door up ahead, room 133.]

[velveteened]

( he does recognize the numbered door, approaching it with all of the confidence of much experience.

but that said gil's the one who has the key, so when they reach it oz pauses expectantly. )

[bunnivore]

[ alice glances at the door oz stops at, but she doesn't actually notice there are numbers on the doors. she's too busy looking around to see if anyone else is around thanks to being ushered ahead. but she waits, just as she should. ]

[retraced]

[He unlocks it, half looking over his shoulder still. This part of the base should be secure, but he would have thought the cafeteria would be as well and look at how well that worked out. The door is held open for the two of them to enter first.]

( he walks on into the room then, with only a glance backwards for the other two. GIL CAN HANDLE THE ZOMBIE PARANOIA...

and he's going to go sit on one of the beds. )
